There Is Indeed A Guildwood Youth Group!

The Youth Group regularly meets on Sunday mornings in the lounge, from 11:00am to 12:10pm and Wednesday afternoons from 4 - 5:30 p.m.

Food and drinks are often provided, and we meet to discuss issues you find relevant and address them in an open forum.

So far we have been listening to many types of music, and what it means to us. Other discussions revolve around things important to you, what really bugs you.

We've discussed crimes commonly committed against youth, and how to prevent it.

We've talked about difficult times in our lives, and how we deal with our feelings and how to deal with anger.

Some of the upcoming topics for discussion include: drugs, sexual identity, suicide, church, social and economic justice, as well as any topics chosen by the youth.

Nothing Is Too Controversial!

Everyone is invited to have his or her say, and to be heard, and treated with respect.

Come out and join the fun!

WHY A YOUTH GROUP?

Do you know that there are over 45 young people between the ages 13 and 19 at Guildwood?

That represents a large percentage of the church membership. The youth have a strong voice, and we want to hear from you.

Let the Son Shine In. Do you want to see a strong and active Youth Group in the church?

Would you be willing to participate and get to know the other teens through social events and regular group discussions?

We’ve been hearing a lot from the adults who want to see more youth activities, but it’s really up to you!

Guildwood’s vision is a youth group actively involved in the life and the work of the congregation, providing the opportunity for youth to:

1.) Explore relevant issues through a Christian perspective,

2.) Participate in Sunday morning worship, and

3.) To carry the work of the gospel to the community through missions and outreach.

YOUTH AND WORSHIP

As you may have noticed, the Youth of Guildwood are beginning to actively take part in the Sunday worship services on the last Sunday of every month.

The youth participation includes the Bells of Guildwood, reading scripture, handing out bulletins, as well as ushering and assisting with the collection of the offering.

Regular Youth Dramas are presenting Bible stories to the congregation in a new light!

There are many other exciting opportunities to share your gifts with the congregation.

We are looking for musicians, actors, & writers.

If you think that you have a gift or hobby you might like to share with the congregation, let us know!

If your interested in something of this nature, or interested in helping to prepare and lead in worship services speak to Mary-Ann Loyst.

Actors Wanted!

If you are interested in drama, and acting, and would like to take part in an upcoming Sunday morning worship service, by presenting scripture in a lively and dramatic way, let us know!

CHECK IT OUT!

As the world of technology moves to the future, so does the church.

Here you'll find all the latest information about what's going on at Guildwood Community Presbyterian Church, including the most recent information concerning the youth group and it's upcoming events.

You can also contact the church now through e-mail by sending any comments, questions or requests here.
One of the new goals of the youth group at Guildwood is to begin reaching its youth through e-mail.

If you know of other youth in the congregation, or outside the church who might be interested, tell them about us, and pass along our web site address, and e-mail addresses.

COMMENTS, QUESTIONS, & CONTACTS

If you have comments or questions regarding the youth programming, or if you are interested in joining the youth group or taking part in leading worship, you can contact Mary-Ann Loyst by email here.

A BIBLICAL THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

As we are a church youth group, it just wouldn't seem right if there was no biblical content to this page, so here it is!

To help with eager Bible study, and understanding that the life of a teenager is very busy, here is the Bible summarised into just 50 words. Enjoy!

The Bible in 50 Words!

God made
Adam bit
Noah arked
Abraham split
Joseph ruled
Jacob fooled
Bush talked
Moses balked
Pharaoh plagued
People walked
Sea divided
Tablets guided
Promise landed
Saul freaked
David peeked
Prophets warned
Jesus born
God walked
Love talked
Anger crucified
Hope died
Love rose
Spirit flamed
Word spread
God remained.
